A solution is a formed when a solute dissolves in a solvent.
A solvent is the substance that does the dissolving- usually liquid
A solute is the substance that dissolves, can be a solid, liquid or gas
A solution with water as its solvent is called an acqueous solution.
The solubility of a substance in a solvent is the maximum quantity of that substance which can dissolve in 100 ml of solvent at a given temperature.
There are factors that affect the solubility of a solute:
1. Type of solute
2. Type of solvent
3. Temperature (Increases, solubility increases and dissolves more)
4. Pressure from surroundings (Increases, solubility increases)
Suspensions can only be formed when:
1. Like what I have said earlier, too much solute till it is above solubility limit
2. A substance that will not dissolve into the solvent ( Example: Sand )
